In today’s dynamic work environment, your team operates from diverse locations – home offices, client sites, coffee shops, or even airports. PowerSyncPro Migration Agent is built to support this remote workforce, ensuring seamless workstation migrations without disrupting business operations. Under optimal conditions, migrations can complete in under 8 minutes, keeping downtime minimal.
Designed with recoverability in mind. Robust and resilient. Users do funny things like simply powering off their device, or the battery running out, closing the lid, or network issue, the migration process resumes once connectivity to the PowerSyncPro server is restored. This ensures migrations pick up right where they left off, minimizing delays.
User-Friendly Features
Even if a user inadvertently logs into their workstation during migration – an action we discourage through a desktop background image – PowerSyncPro will reboot the device and retry the process. (Future updates will include a deny logon policy to further prevent this – stay tuned!)
For users with urgent deadlines, PowerSyncPro offers flexibility. Grace periods allow migrations to be postponed, and our taskbar app lets users initiate migrations at their convenience. (Note: that grace period features may not suit all migration scenarios.)
PowerSyncPro Migration Agent can be configured with multiple languages for the user experience prompts. Migrating prompts will display based on users computer language, guiding the remote users through their migration experience.
Robust Server Connectivity
PowerSyncPro ensures reliability by requiring continuous access to the PowerSyncPro IaaS server which you host during migration. A final check confirms that progress can be reported, the translation table you created is downloaded, and the latest runbook of instructions is applied, guaranteeing a smooth process.
Real-Time Insights and Adaptability
With telemetry (logs) sent back to the PowerSyncPro server, administrators gain visibility into migration progress through intuitive dashboards and visualizations. If issues arise, you can update the runbook, and any devices will automatically download the revised instructions and retry within the hour from where they left off. A future update will even allow re-running successful runbooks on workstations – watch for this enhancement!
Simplified Entra Join and Cloud Integration
For organizations transitioning to Entra Join (cloud-only), PowerSyncPro eliminates the need for users to be on the local network, reducing project complexity. When domain joining to a new Active Directory or re-permissioning workstations, PowerSyncPro supports offline domain joins or direct AD connections via your always-on VPN. Microsoft features like Cloud Kerberos Trust enable seamless access to on-premises applications requiring AD authentication, empowering a cloud-first transformation.
Proven Reliability
Early versions of PowerSyncPro in 2022 used Windows Configuration Designer’s package files (ppkg) for Entra Join, which has high failure rates. We’ve since transitioned to Bulk Enrolment Tokens (BPRT) significantly improving success rates and boosting confidence in migrations. Post-migration, PowerSyncPro ensures hourly retries to enrol workstations in Intune after Entra Join, delivering a polished remote experience.
With PowerSyncPro Migration Agent, you can migrate workstations with ease, confident that your remote workforce remains productive and your IT transformation stays on track.
